Who Knew?

• Always, always pack duct tape when you’re going camping. It is a must-have to repair rips in tents and air mattresses, and can be used to string up food so it is out of bears reach.

• If you’re having trouble peeling off a label or sticker without leaving a gooey mess behind, try applying white vinegar until it’s saturated. It will peel right off!

• Bacteria loves eggs, so if you find a cracked egg in the carton, throw it out. It is probably contaminated. The refrigerator shelf life of eggs is about five weeks from the “sell by” date.

• Cutting boards and breadboards need only simple soap and water to get clean, but you can make them look newer by rubbing salt over them with a wet cloth. After you rinse, plastic ones can be left to dry, but wooden ones do best if you towel them dry so they don’t warp.
